Selective Catalytic Reduction of NOx by CO over Cu(Fe)/SBA-15 Catalysts: Effects of the Metal Loading on the Catalytic Activity

Mesoporous Cu(Fe)/SBA-15 catalysts were prepared with distinct metal loadings of ca. 2–10 wt.%. A detailed set characterizations using X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), transmission microscopy (TEM), scanning coupled to energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Mössbauer spectroscopy, photoelectron (XPS) and Raman was performed correlate the relationship among structure, electronic properties catalytic performances. All solids evaluated in selective reduction NOx presence CO (CO-SCR). The influence on overall activity indicated that introducing high amounts Fe or Cu beneficial form either CuO α-Fe2O3 clusters. Cux/SBA-15 series exhibited more efficient poison-tolerant ability during CO-SCR reaction, contrast Fex/SBA-15. In spite species introduced SBA-15 having structural features similar those ones, low interactions nanoparticles, silica clusters impeded performances Fe10/SBA-15. XPS revealed a oxidized state, indicating stability solid after tests, agreement EPR spectroscopy. Cu8/SBA-15 worked better, being recyclable due interaction Cu2+ ions SBA-15, avoiding deactivation catalyst.
